Zaya and Geordie met in Siberia on the Ice Run where they braved the sub-zero temperatures in Urals together. Geordie is from the small town of Dungog in New South Wales where we shot most of Zaya's portrait series, his mother Nancy is a gasoline nut and uses their 100cc brappy Yamaha to run the dogs (even after both hips and knees were reconstructed!). It was a fun weekend away with these two, both suffering chest infections, but moods always high and up for a ride. 

Watching these five Parisienne women travel the Himalayas on their Royal Enfield's was pretty exciting. They travelled narrow, unforgiving roads with shear drops, gravel and dirt, camps and altitude sickness all with an effortlessness of style as only the French can do.  Since returning to Paris they've been working very hard to get a film produced of their journey and this if the first of the 3 part film...

Leticia is unassuming, a free spirit, passionate about riding and keenly supportive of women who ride. I came away from meeting Leticia, overwhelmingly inspired by her journey, as her passion for gasoline culture is both intrinsic to who she is and rooted in a strong connection to her father.

We’ve all been in those situations where we either try sound like we know-our-shit or default to playing dumb. Entering the gasoline scene can be daunting, especially if you haven't got a knowledgable friend to navigate conversations with. However the ego that surrounds gasoline culture is problematic for community building.

Introducing the first five Petrolettes of IVV. Five very different women, riders, bikes and adventurists but all commonly want to see more women on the road, loving life and living in the moment. Every fortnight IVV will be taking a deeper look at the lives of each of these women further learning why they ride and what they love about it.
