Weekends are for Riding

Nina and Erica of The Throttle Dolls hosted an easy ride this morning from Bondi to La Perouse for coffee and (following several solid weeks of rain) some much appreciated vitamin D.
Democracy sausage might have been the first highlight of my day, but catching up with some rad women on their two-wheeled machines was certainly more memorable (as was the hustle to get to Bondi Pavilion before the start of the ride; silly me thought this was happening tomorrow).
Needless to say, when I arrived everyone was raring to go (under the gaze of plenty of curious onlookers and their smart phones). We took the twisty roads along the coastline, avoiding an ambulance with sirens blazing, and kept together surprisingly well, for the mix of bikes and experience levels, only pausing to make up for the occasional inopportune red light. A late breakfast or sneaky almond croissant provided the perfect setting at the other end to rate the many nude beaches in the area, make plans for camping trips, announce upcoming adventures in Biarritz or further afield, and generally talk shop/shit.
Whether riding is your antidote to a breakup, the symptom of a mid-life crisis, or just a way to get around, you can enjoy it in the company of friends.
When and where is the next one?? I’ll mark it in my diary now.
